DESCRIPTION:
APW - Hamilton, Grade 933, low serial #1478, 16J, 18S, gold-filled HC recase with unusual and interesting engraving detail of logging scenes including horses pulling a pile of wood to front and loggers working at the mill to rear, guarantee paper within rear, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, nickel damascene, s#1478. A scarce watch, total production of the Grade 933 was only 650 made. The Hamilton factory ledger lists the present watch as having been sold to J. Caesar of Stillwater, Minnesota on November 1st, 1895.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Ticking on a partial wind but mainspring seems likely broken as mvt never reaches fully wound, overhaul needed, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous plates with few micro-fine scratches, broken regulator spring, oxide to remaining portions of regulator assembly; dial with few scattered outer chapter hls, small flake at center hole, few edge flakes under bezel between 10 and 1 with the largest at 11:30; fine hands, minute and seconds-hand with oxide; case front opens wide of 90 degrees (to approximately 105 degrees) and has a bit of side-to-side play at hinge, case shows light wear, scratches and marring to perimeter of cuvette from slipped and rough past openings, two tiny dings to front more readily evident to inner surface of lid, reduced engraving detail, strips of wear to brass to pendant, thin partial rings of wear to brass to front and rear edges; tight bow, crown has lost its outer layer (jacket) and remaining core shows light wear; good glass crystal.
